His potential entry into the race was teased leading up to the 2022 election, but he decided against running. He never disclosed a political party or platform during that time, making any future campaigns a mystery.
It’s unclear what position Matthew McConaughey would pursue in politics. His previous interest in running for governor in Texas and his appearance at a Governors Association meeting could mean he’s considering running for a position as governor. Of course, he could also be eying a national position, or looking to run in California rather than his home state.
